Jodi Picoult in the Media

In the media Jodi Picoult is not afraid to be open about her views. Not only has she earned notoriety through blasting the New York Times for their male author favoritism, she is also open to stepping into the political arena when it comes to gay rights. In 2012, Jodi Picoult spoke out in favor of the New Hampshire same sex marriage laws.

Using her own son as an example, Picoult was very vocal in trying to demonstrate how members of the gay community contribute just as much as their straight counterparts. Picoult has made the most of her social media presence to promote her views, including requesting that those who follow her Facebook fan page speak out against the repeal of the New Hampshire same sex marriage laws.

In preparation for The Lone Wolf, due to be released on February 28, 2012, Picoult has spoken at the Hanover Theater to educate her readers about how she carried out research for her latest novel. As well as living with Shaun Ellis, a man who chose to live only with animals in the Rockies for a year, she learned how to mimic three distinctive howls made by members of wolf packs. Her talk at the theater also educated her readers about how she shadowed "CSI guys," people with Asperger's syndrome, and real life ghost hunters. Her promotion of people from all walks of life in the media lately has opened the eyes of many to the diverse community we all live in.
